Why Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil Is Good For Your Prostate

I had a lot of requests for the marinara sauce recipe without any sugar. It’s from Rao’s Cookbook, which is available at Amazon.com. Rao’s is a 48 seat restaurant in the Bronx, and don’t bother trying to get in, because it’s been sold out since the day it opened.

You can buy Rao’s sauces in any number of supermarkets, but if you want to make it yourself it’s pretty simple.

2 28 ounce cans of Italian Plum tomatoes with basil (preferably labeled San Marzano)
1/4 cup good olive oil
2 ounces pancetta or high quality bacon
3 Tablespoons minced onion
2 garlic cloves minced
Salt to taste
6 fresh basil leaves torn
Pinch dried oregano
Pepper to taste

Remove the tomatoes from the can, reserving the juice. Crush the tomatoes with your hands. Remove the hard core from the stem end, or any skin or tough membranes.

Put the oil in a large, non-reactive saucepan over medium low heat. Dice the pancetta or bacon, and add to the pan. Saute for about five minutes, or until all the fat has been rendered. Remove the pancetta or bacon and reserve for some other use.

Add the onion. Saute until translucent and just beginning to brown. Stir in the garlic, and saute for a minute. Add the tomatoes, their reserved juices, and the salt. Raise the heat, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour. If you like a thick sauce, add another 15 minutes.

Stir in the basil, oregano, and pepper, and cook for a couple of minutes. Remove from the heat and serve over whatever you want.

That’s pretty simple, and simple is best. With properly cooked pasta, and some good fresh cheese, it’s a little slice of heaven.

From the University of California in San Fransisco comes a study that shows that men who have a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids had a 57% reduction in the risk of developing prostate cancer.
