Can You Lower Your Triglycerides Naturally With No Risk
Posted: August 21st, 2010 | Author: Dr. Bill Stillwell | No Comments »Cholesterol…it’s good…it’s bad…it’s ugly and we know Clint
Eastwood doesn’t have the problem, since he’s eighty something, or
other. We have heard almost everything there is to say about
cholesterol in the last twenty years. It almost always ends with
“Your triglycerides need to be lower and don’t eat any fat.”
Neither one is necessarily true. You don’t have to have a
cholesterol score less than 100 to function properly and fat can be
a good thing. But the heart industry likes to paint with a very
broad brush, even though they have to know that some of the things
they recommend are silly (like the AHA Diet).
“So Doc,” you’re saying, “just what in the blazes are triglycerides
anyway?”
Good question and one that physicians rarely answer. Now I could
astound you with all the chemical explanations that I still remember
from med school, but that would have you snoring, right quickly.
I prefer the “Break it down for me, Bubba!” approach that Carroll
O’Connor (Archie Bunker) used on that old show, “In The Heat of The
Night.”
Simply put, triglycerides are a form of fat found in your blood.
They get in your blood from what you chow down on. They are formed
in the body from the foods you eat. This all takes place while you
sit on the couch, or take a nap (while your body is digesting the
grub).
So now you’re saying, “Doc, how do you get a level of triglycerides
that is too high?”
1) From the food you’re eating.
2) From being overweight.
3) From drinking too many malt beverages (alcohol).
4) Various other health conditions.
The problem with a high triglyceride level is that it can lead to
clogged arteries and it can also cause your good cholesterol to get
lower. Both of these things lead to coronary artery disease, which
is never a good thing. High triglycerides are also a factor in
diabetes, thyroid and kidney disease.
Whaddya gonna do?
1) Change your diet
2) Exercise a lot more
3) Ease up on the malt beverages
4) Reduce the poundage
5) Increase your intake of omega-3 fatty acids (Dr. Bill’s
Powerhouse Omega Formula)

If you follow this advice, you’ll be far less likely to have to get
your chest split open with a saw and have all your plumbing redone.
While this procedure undoubtably saves many, many lives, you really
don’t want to go there… unless it’s absolutely necessary. Take it
from one of my partners, whose quadruple bypass anniversary will be
two years, next week, who says, “It still hurts when I sneeze.”
Personally, I take the Cholesterol Crushing Combo, which is my
pharmaceutical grade fish oil, along with Garlic and Niacin. This
combo puts a triple whammy on any fat that wants to hang around in
my bloodstream and flushes it it out prontissimo, with thanks to
Jake for the word.
I’ll be back tomorrow with more.
With my best wishes for your optimum health,
Dr. Bill
